TEAR Australia is excited to introduce Julie Shapland's newly published book: "The Selfish Shellfish" Not only does the book inspire all Australians to live generous lives, but Julie has also generously provided a specific way to respond-by supporting water and sanitation project in Africa. During the 2003 International Year of Fresh Water, Julie discovered that every 10 seconds, a child dies for lack of clean water. Through TEAR Australia's clean water and sanitation programs, she began supporting the well drilling, water supply and sanitation work done by TEAR Australia's partners in Kenya. They help villages develop a community response to the lack of clean water. A safe, reliable source of water in their own village frees women and children from hours of work each day carrying water, and makes a dramatic improvement to health. Through 'The Selfish Shellfish' Julie shares her creative work and her generous spirit by donating all profits from book sales to the water supply programs supported by TEAR Australia. It is her hope that the book will inspire generation of Australians to live and give unselfishly. Yours faithfully, Dominique Emery Communications Officer, TEAR Australia www.tear.org.au
